Luling ISD serves the area of Caldwell County, Texas, with a student body that is majority Hispanic, followed by a substantial white population and a smaller Black population. The district operates three schools: Leonard Shanklin Elementary (PK through 5), Gilbert Gerdes Junior High (6 through 8), and Luling High School (9 through 12). Total enrollment is spread across the grade band, with a substantial share of students in the early elementary grades.

In 2024-25, Luling ISD's state assessment results show mixed academic performance. Reading proficiency holds steady across the early elementary grades and remains moderate through middle school, with solid performance in third through fifth grade but a significant decline through sixth and seventh grade before recovering somewhat in eighth.
