Buena Vista Elementary is a K through 6 school in Lompoc serving a school population that includes roughly equal shares of Hispanic and white students, alongside smaller groups of students of two or more races, Asian students, and other groups. About a third of the student body qualifies for free or reduced-price lunch. The school sits within Lompoc Unified, a district that just passed a major facility bond in late 2024 after years of failed attempts, funding upgrades to aging buildings across all 16 campuses.

On state testing, Buena Vista's results show a gap between reading and math proficiency.
