Riverdale Middle School serves grades six through eight in the Riverdale area of Clayton County, south of Atlanta. The school enrolls a student population that is overwhelmingly economically disadvantaged; every student qualifies for free or reduced-price lunch. The enrollment is racially diverse, with the majority of students identifying as Black, followed by substantial shares of Hispanic and Asian students, and very small populations of white and multiracial students.

The housing market in the area is moderately valued relative to the state and nation, and rental costs are in the mid-range regionally.
