Algonquin Lakes Elementary is a regular public elementary school serving kindergarten through fifth grade in a suburban northwest Chicago setting. The school sits in a fast-growing community experiencing considerable residential and commercial expansion, particularly along the Randall Road corridor. Housing values in the area are above the state benchmark, and the community is anchored by retail, manufacturing, and healthcare employers, including Motorola Solutions and Walgreens.

The school's enrollment of just under four hundred students reflects a diverse student population. About half the enrollment is white, roughly a third is Hispanic, and smaller shares are Asian, Black, or multiracial. The school draws from neighborhoods that span both a revitalized historic downtown along the Fox River and the newer suburban districts further west.
