Chatham Grove Elementary serves the Pre-K through fifth-grade band in Pittsboro, a town on steep growth from the Chatham Park master-planned development and regional manufacturing investment. The school opened in 2020 to absorb enrollment from that growth and now educates a student body of mixed grade levels, from nursery-age through fifth grade.
The school's recent state test results show proficiency well above half across the three tested subjects. In math for grades three through five, roughly three in four students scored proficient or above. English language arts performance was slightly lower but still showed proficiency for most. Science proficiency was the strongest of the three, with student performance above the other two subjects. The data come from North Carolina's End-of-Grade tests administered in spring 2025. These are the only comparable state measures available for elementary grades; trend data was not available to show whether results have moved, so a parent cannot yet assess whether the school is improving, holding steady, or declining.

The district has announced construction of two new elementary schools within Chatham Park itself, both planned to open by the 2027-28 school year, as well as a full rebuild of Moncure School and an expansion at the middle school. Chatham Grove is relatively new and sits well-positioned for now, but attendance zone and assignment changes will reshape school boundaries as that growth materializes. A parent moving to the area may want to confirm current enrollment projections and ask the district directly about how existing school assignments will shift when the new elementary buildings come online.
The district adopted the state-mandated Science of Reading approach beginning in 2023-24, restructuring its teacher calendars to support the LETRS professional development program, a major shift in how early literacy is taught.
