College Point Collaborative is a public middle school serving grades six through eight in the College Point neighborhood of Queens. The school enrolls a student body that is predominantly Hispanic, with a substantial share of students qualifying for free or reduced-price lunch. The enrollment is distributed evenly across the three grade levels, with a small total enrollment typical for a middle school serving a single neighborhood.

The school's state assessment results show mixed performance, with proficiency varying significantly by grade level and subject. In English language arts, sixth-grade students achieved proficiency at a rate below what would be considered strong; seventh graders showed improvement; and eighth graders performed somewhat better. Mathematics proficiency was weaker. Sixth graders showed modest proficiency, seventh graders performed somewhat better, but eighth graders' results were notably lower, with a participation rate that fell below the school's participation in other areas, which may indicate some testing or enrollment dynamics worth exploring with the school directly. Science assessment results, available only for eighth grade, were low. A parent may want to ask the school about its approach to mathematics instruction, especially in the upper grades, and what supports exist for students not yet meeting proficiency standards.

College Point itself is a working and middle-class waterfront neighborhood on a peninsula in northeast Queens, predominantly residential but with small businesses, family-owned restaurants, and an industrial legacy concentrated in the southern portion. The neighborhood is served by bus routes only; there is no subway access. Housing stock ranges from early twentieth-century single-family homes and cottages to newer multifamily brick buildings. The neighborhood has experienced steady residential growth, particularly in the 1990s and 2000s, with ongoing replacement of detached homes by semi-detached and multifamily buildings. A major development project under the city's housing plan proposes building a substantial number of new homes and public space on the former Flushing Airport site.

District 25, the school's parent district, underwent a significant curriculum shift when all elementary schools adopted the "Into Reading" curriculum starting in September 2023 as part of the citywide literacy mandate, a science-of-reading approach that standardized reading instruction across the district. Middle school admissions screening returned to the district superintendent's control after the pandemic-era lottery, allowing for academic-based screening if the district chooses. The district also gained local gifted and talented programs for the first time under the city's expanded G&T model, with teacher nomination and lottery-based entry now available at the elementary level and a new third-grade entry point.
