Choice Charter School, a pre-kindergarten through fifth-grade Montessori charter in the Mott Haven section of the Bronx, permanently closed in 2025. The school no longer accepts students or operates as an enrollment option. Families affected by the closure were required to transfer their children to other charter or public district schools in the area, following New York's mandatory wind-down procedures for charter closures.

Before it closed, Choice Charter School's academic results showed consistent underperformance. In math, proficiency rates ranged from roughly one in five to more than one in three students across grades three through five, with the lowest rates in fifth grade. In English language arts, results were similarly weak, with fourth grade showing the most marked difficulty at roughly one in eight students proficient. Science proficiency in fifth grade reached about one in six students. Across tested subjects and grades, the school's overall proficiency index was among the lowest in Bronx County, placing it in the bottom quartile relative to other districts in the county.

The enrollment was small, with roughly two hundred students total spread across kindergarten through fifth grade in roughly balanced grade-level cohorts. The student body was predominantly Hispanic and Black, with smaller populations of Asian, white, American Indian/Alaska Native, and multiracial students. Data on the share of students qualifying for free or reduced-price lunch was not available, as was information on the percentage of students with individualized education plans or designated as English learners.

State testing participation rates ranged from roughly two-thirds to mid-eighties across grades and subjects, suggesting that absences or other barriers prevented full participation in some cases. A parent looking into the school's closure would have found that despite relatively high per-student spending compared to peers, the school ranked in the bottom tier of New York elementary schools over its final years. The gap between spending and academic outcomes appeared to be a factor in authorizer decisions around its renewal and eventual closure.
