Edmeston Central School serves all students in the district, from prekindergarten through high school, in a single building in the rural hamlet of Edmeston at the western edge of Otsego County. The enrollment is roughly in line with a small rural district, distributed fairly evenly across grade levels through the upper grades, with slightly higher numbers in the younger elementary years. About half the student body qualifies for free or reduced-price lunch, and the student population is predominantly white, with small populations of Asian, Hispanic, and multiracial students; data on English learners and students with individualized education plans was not available.

The state testing results from the most recent school year show a mixed academic picture. In English Language Arts, proficiency across the tested grades (3 through 8) generally sits in the range of low- to mid-60s, with fourth grade notably lower. Math performance is more uneven: third grade and fifth grade show stronger proficiency, while fourth grade dips into the low-30s. A parent-relevant change came into effect in December 2023, when the school qualified for the federal Community Eligibility Provision and began offering free breakfast and lunch to all enrolled students, regardless of household income. This removes a recurring meal cost for families. The district also completed a 2024 capital improvement project at the school building, part of a demonstrated pattern of the community approving school budgets and infrastructure investments.
