Mill Middle School is a regular public middle school in Williamsville, an older, densely built suburb about eight miles northeast of Buffalo with a preserved historic center and walkable commercial Main Street. The school sits in the Williamsville Central School District, which spans Williamsville, Amherst, Cheektowaga, and Clarence. The district's campuses are typically on suburban sites rather than in the walkable village core, and Mill is situated on Mill Street in Williamsville proper.

The school enrolls a student body that is predominantly white, with a modest share of Asian students and smaller shares of Black and Hispanic students. About a quarter of students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. Most families in the surrounding area own homes valued above the county median; the housing market has seen recent infill multifamily development along Main Street and new single-family construction in the Williamsville area at prices in the high hundreds of thousands. The area also has a handful of major employers in healthcare, retail, and professional services, with many residents commuting elsewhere.
