Wickliffe Middle School is closed. The data provided here represents the school's most recent academic results, from the 2022–23 school year, when it was still operating as part of the Wickliffe City School District.

The school served grades five through eight and operated as a regular public school. At that time, its students showed uneven proficiency across subjects. In English Language Arts, the school performed relatively strongly, with solid results in grades seven and eight; sixth grade showed weaker performance. Mathematics presented a steeper challenge. Fifth-grade students met proficiency at a modest rate, sixth grade fell notably lower, seventh grade rebounded, and eighth grade held steady but well below where many districts aim. Science proficiency was stronger across both tested grades. Social studies data from an earlier year showed solid results. Most notably, English Language Arts in eighth grade stood out as the school's clearest strength area.

The district itself has undergone major change. In a consolidation completed around the time this school closed, Wickliffe City Schools brought all students from prekindergarten through twelfth grade into a single new building designed with flexible learning spaces, a Performing Arts Center, two gymnasiums, and an on-site Family Resource Center. This was a substantial structural shift for the entire district, replacing three aging school buildings with a single integrated campus.

Wickliffe is a small, mostly residential Cleveland suburb in western Lake County, characterized by mid-century housing stock and a high rate of homeownership. The city is anchored economically by Lubrizol, a specialty chemicals company and Berkshire Hathaway subsidiary headquartered there, which announced a major expansion in January 2026. The city recently saw its first new single-family housing development in roughly a decade, Old School Village, indicating modest growth pressure and some housing demand.

Fiscally, the district faced repeated levy failures before narrowly winning a school income tax levy in May 2026. That vote followed failed attempts at a property tax levy in May 2025 and an income tax measure in November 2025. The approved income tax is structured to replace three existing property tax levies starting January 1, 2028, shifting the district's funding base from property taxes to earned income tax. That structural change carries direct implications for homeowners and renters in the district.

Since this school is no longer operating, families considering Wickliffe schools would now look to the consolidated PK–12 campus, which represents a very different educational environment from the separate middle school that produced these results.
