Licking Heights North Elementary serves kindergarten only in Pataskala, Ohio, a semi-rural suburb on the eastern edge of the Columbus metro that functions primarily as a bedroom community for commuters while maintaining small-town character. The school sits on the western side of the city, away from downtown's historic core along Main Street and Broad Street.
This is a newly configured school within a district managing rapid growth. In the 2024-2025 school year, Licking Heights carried out major elementary redistricting and opened a new K-4 building, Lima Ridge Elementary. That redistricting reassigned roughly half of all K-4 students to different schools; students designated for the new building initially started their year at the old North Elementary building. All three elementary schools now operate on a K-4 model, with neighborhoods kept together and most students placed in the school closest to their home. The district passed a substantial bond in 2022 that funded this new elementary school, an athletic complex, bus garage, board office, and high school expansion to accommodate additional growth. The new bond replaced an expiring issue, and tax bills were not expected to change significantly.

Pataskala is experiencing sustained growth driven by Intel's semiconductor campus roughly ten miles away in nearby New Albany, major new housing developments, and industrial expansion in the Pataskala Corporate Park, where Illuminate USA recently opened a solar panel manufacturing facility. Housing values in the area are stable and have appreciated modestly.
A parent considering kindergarten entry here should understand that this is an early-stage school newly opened to absorb district growth, serving one grade in a fast-growing community. The small enrollment for now is temporary; the building is designed to expand as cohorts age through. The proficiency rates available reflect older elementary students in the building and position the school above average among county peers, though state testing does not measure kindergarten.
