GREEN Charter School Midlands is a public charter school serving kindergarten through eighth grade in Irmo, a suburb northwest of Columbia. The school is part of the SC Public Charter School District, which is a statewide charter authorizer rather than a traditional geographic district. Irmo itself is primarily a residential community that grew from a farming and railroad stop into a suburban town beginning in the 1960s, and it now straddles Lexington and Richland counties. The town is known as the "Gateway to Lake Murray" and hosts an annual Okra Strut festival that serves as a central community gathering.

The school enrolls a moderate number of students across kindergarten through eighth grade. The student body is diverse, with Black students making up the largest share, followed by white students, students identifying as two or more races, and Hispanic students. About two-thirds of students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch, a measure of economic need.

Academically, the picture is uneven. In English language arts, proficiency rates vary widely by grade level. In the most recent testing year, performance was comparatively stronger in several middle-grade levels, where roughly half or more of students met the state's proficiency standard. Other grade levels in ELA showed lower rates. In mathematics, proficiency was consistently low across tested grades.
