D L Rountree Elementary is closed. The school was shut down in 2023 as part of a restructuring by Allen ISD to address enrollment imbalances across the district.

In late 2022, the board voted to close both Rountree and Anderson elementary schools and redraw attendance boundaries, citing declining enrollment on the east side of the district and overcrowding on the west side. The closures took effect for the 2023 school year. Rountree's students were reassigned to other campuses in the district under the new boundary map. Anderson, the other closed school, was converted to a full-day pre-kindergarten facility to meet a new state mandate.
