Hill Elementary serves prekindergarten through sixth grade in Arlington, a mid-sized city within Tarrant County. The school enrolls a modest enrollment with roughly equal numbers across its grade bands, drawing a student body that is about half white and half Hispanic, with smaller numbers of Black, Asian, and multiracial students. About half of the enrollment qualifies for free or reduced-price lunch, placing the school in a community with moderate economic need.

Reading and language arts shows the strongest academic performance. In fourth and fifth grades, students reach proficiency at a solid rate, with fourth grade substantially outpacing the other grades. Third grade reading trails noticeably behind fourth grade but recovers somewhat by fifth. Sixth grade reading dips again. The pattern suggests that students build momentum in the middle grades before a possible dip as they approach middle school transition.

Mathematics performance is more uneven. Third grade shows the lowest results, with only a modest share meeting proficiency. Science testing occurs only in fifth grade and shows considerably lower proficiency than reading or math at the same level, a notable gap a parent may want to explore with the school when considering how science instruction compares to language and math emphasis. Social studies proficiency, where reported, also trails behind reading at comparable grades.

The school sits slightly above the midpoint for overall proficiency when compared to other schools in Tarrant County, placing it in a modest but not exceptional position among its peer schools in the region.

Arlington ISD has recently launched universal free pre-K for four-year-olds, opening access to a full-day STEM-focused program regardless of family income or residency. Voters approved a bond in 2026 for new school construction and facility improvements. At the same time, the district is managing a steady decline in enrollment that has prompted school closures and consolidations, including the closure of Blanton Elementary. In March 2026 trustees adopted new state-approved instructional materials for math instruction across all grades.
