Bane Elementary is a small, high-poverty pre-kindergarten-through-fifth-grade school in northwest Houston, part of the Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District. Nearly all of its students qualify for free or reduced-price meals, and the school serves a predominantly Hispanic community with a substantial Black student population. The enrollment is stable and spans the full early-grades range.

On state assessments, Bane's results sit below the midpoint among Harris County districts. In grade 3 English language arts, about half the students reached proficiency, though fewer than a third did in math. Grade 4 and 5 results show similar patterns: English arts performance holds around the middle-40s percentage range, while math proficiency is notably weaker, in the mid-to-high 20s. Fifth-grade science proficiency was also in the low 30s.
