New ECHS is a future public middle school in Fort Worth, Texas, operated by Fort Worth ISD. The city's economy centers on aerospace and defense manufacturing, with American Airlines headquartered there, along with major operations from Lockheed Martin, Bell, and other defense contractors; health care, education, and government employment also anchor the job market. The housing market has tightened considerably during this growth: median home values in the 76116 zip code where the school will sit are moderate by national standards, but have held relatively steady while rents have climbed. A family renting in that zip code would spend roughly a fifth to a quarter of household income on rent, and monthly mortgage costs on a typical home would run in the low thousands. Fort Worth ISD is a large district that serves most of the city of Fort Worth plus the communities of Benbrook, Westover Hills, Westworth Village, and portions of nearby areas. The district's middle and high schools are dispersed across this geography rather than clustered in a single area.
