School Decision maintains national public-school and district datasets covering the United States and uses them as research inputs for reporting and analysis. Coverage of the underlying record is infrastructure for the work, not a claim that every school or district is published as a standalone profile.

Included Entities

  • Public Traditional Schools: Full coverage of local education agency-operated schools.
  • Public Charter Schools: Coverage depends on state reporting mechanisms, but generally includes all Title I eligible charters.
  • Magnet Schools: Tracked and labeled where distinct from traditional public schools.

Excluded Entities

  • Private Schools: We do not track private or independent schools as they are not subject to the same public reporting requirements or state assessments.
  • Homeschools: Not tracked in our database.
  • Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA): Not currently included in standard state-level comparisons.
