New Jersey launches school civil rights unit as federal enforcement shrinks

The state's new Education and Public Accommodations Enforcement Section will investigate discrimination in schools. It begins as the U.S. Education Department's Office for Civil Rights dismissed about 90 percent of complaints without investigation from March through September 2025.
