Education Department Publishes Unified Regulatory Agenda for Public Review

The Secretary of Education issued a semiannual agenda of planned regulatory and deregulatory actions in the Federal Register on Aug. 14, 2026, under Executive Order 12866.

The Education Department published its unified agenda of Federal regulatory and deregulatory actions in the Federal Register on Aug. 14, 2026. The notice, docketed as 2026-16596, is the department's semiannual listing of rules it plans to address.

Purpose of the agenda

The agenda is issued under section 4(b) of Executive Order 12866, Regulatory Planning and Review. According to the notice, the goal is to encourage effective public participation in the regulatory process by giving the public early information about the regulatory actions the department plans to take.
