Winnebago Elementary serves prekindergarten through fifth grade in Bloomingdale, a residential DuPage County village about twenty-five miles northwest of Chicago. The school enrolls a modest student population across its grade band. The student body is diverse: roughly a third of students are Hispanic, a third are white, a smaller share are Asian, and the remainder identify as Black, two or more races, or other categories. The school does not report free-or-reduced-price-lunch rates or English learner and special education counts, so a parent cannot assess those measures directly from available data.

The school's academic performance shows mixed results on state assessments. In English language arts, third graders performed below the midpoint for proficiency, while fourth graders performed well above it. Fifth graders achieved proficiency at a notably strong level. Math performance was more uneven: third graders met the midpoint, but fourth and fifth graders fell significantly below, with only a small fraction of fifth graders reaching proficiency on the state test. Bloomingdale itself is a mixed commercial and residential village anchored by a strong retail base along arterials and a small historic Old Town at Lake Street and Bloomingdale Road. The village is in the midst of its largest current redevelopment: the former Stratford Square Mall site, closed in 2024, is being rebuilt as a mixed-use district with residences, retail, entertainment, and recreational facilities over the next several years. Housing values in the area are moderate to mid-range for the region. The Bloomingdale Public Library and Old Town Park serve as civic anchors, though the village lacks a Metra station and relies on local Pace bus service for commuter connections.
